Dear fellow Artists,
It is my pleasure to announce my teaching schedule for 2009. You will notice that I have included two workshops, a three day workshop in the studio and a five day outdoor painting workshop in beautiful Steamboat Springs Colorado. In addition to these workshops I will also be teaching an thorough six month course of study I call the Mentorship Program. You will find details below, but if you would like more information, I invite you to call me at my studio 303-646-5835.
I know our time will be limited, so I will fill you with as much information as possible during our days together. This does not mean that I will try to teach you to paint like me. On the contrary, I teach artistic laws, rules and principles, and help you learn to incorporate all that into your own style. I will help you sort through information you have learned up to this point, and organize and prioritize it in a way that allows you to simplify the painting process. As a result, you will be more consistent and confident, and enjoy painting more than ever before.
I look forward to meeting you in person in the coming year.
Regards,
Jay Moore

Jay Moore Mentorship Program, Parker, CO
July - December, 2009 |
Designed to help artists with a lot of talent and ambition reach their goals as masters of their craft. The goal of the Mentorship is to work on the students weaknesses until they do not have any more weaknesses. Most artists are skilled in certain areas and are lacking one or two skills that hold them back. After over 15 years in development, and five years of helping artists One-on-one with amazing success, it is time to expand the program to more Artists.
During the course of study, Artists will be studying seven subjects simultaneously. Along with extensive study in painting, other subjects include, the Mental (Getting in the zone), Financial (Pricing, budgeting, gallery commission), Social (dealing with clients and galleries), Technical (Drawing and hand-eye coordination), Emotional (overcoming discouragement) Perception (Marketing and Presentation). Exercises and critiques will be given based on the student’s abilities, background and circumstances. Allow 30-50 hours per week to complete assignments.
Enrollment requires a Six Month commitment. Classes will meet every other Monday evening from 4-7pm, beginning July, 2009.
• Limited to six students.
• Tuition is $500/month.
• Certificate of completion awarded on graduation. • If you would like to talk to Jay to see if the Mentorship is right

Plein Air Workshop, Steamboat Springs, CO
August 22-26, 2009 |
Breathe in the fresh mountain air as you learn to develop a successful small field study painting outdoors on location.
The purpose of this workshop is to set a good foundation for painting outdoors. First, Jay will stress planning the composition of the painting by means of several thumbnail sketches in pencil. Once a good composition is established in a thumbnail pencil sketch, the goal will be to convey the same feeling in the small oil field studies. Planning ahead in this way eliminates major problems in the oil sketch. The painting goes quicker and is more spontaneous and brushstrokes are more confident. Instruction will include demonstration, lectures and critiques. It is a joy to paint the picturesque rivers, lakes and waterfall around this beautiful area of Colorado. After a day of painting, relax in the Hot Springs Pool, or enjoy the shopping and dinning in downtown.
Workshop will be conducted outdoors : 8:30am-12:00noon, 1:00pm-4:30pm (In the event of rain, arrangements will be made to continue indoors or under shelter.)
